Stainless Fasteners

Stainless steel fasteners, or "stainless fasteners" are used extensively in any environment where corrosion is a factor. Stainless fasteners are generally either austenitic (non-magnetic) or martensitic (magnetic). Austenitic stainless steels include types 302, 303, 304, 316, and 316L and others. Martensitic stainless steels include typically types 402, 403, and 410. Martensitic stainless steels can be hardened through heat treating. Austenitic stainless steels cannot be hardened by heat, but can be chemically hardened.
